Pronoun Definition

Definition of Pronoun or Pronoun Definition

A word that is used in place of a noun is called a pronoun.
or
A Replacement of Noun is called Pronoun.

Example of Pronoun

  1. She is my best friend.
  2. It is raining.
  3. You are good Person.
  4. They are social workers.
  5. We are not going to Kolkata.

किसी भी वाक्य की सुंदरता को सर्वनाम का प्रयोग करके बढ़ाया जा सकता है । यदि की बार – बार एक ही शब्द का प्रयोग करे तो वाक्य सुनने या पढ़ने में अच्छा नहीं लगेगा , इसलिए हम सर्वनाम का प्रयोग करते है ताकि वाक्य पढ़ने या सुनने में ख़राब न लगे ।

जैसे – यदि आपको खुद के विषय में कुछ लिखना है तो –

Pooja is a girl. Pooja is going to start reading. Pooja is very poor girl. Pooja is not avail to speaking Telegu.

यदि आप ऊपर के वाक्य को देखे तो Pooja का प्रयोग कई बार हुआ है , जिससे ये वाक्य पढ़ने में अच्छा नहीं लग रहा है , यदि आप इस वाक्य में सर्वनाम का प्रयोग करते है तो ये वाक्य पढ़ने में अच्छा और सही लगेगा । यदि एक ही प्रोनाउन का प्रयोग लगातार कई बार हो जाता है तो , हम फिर से Noun का प्रयोग करते है जिससे की नाउन तथा प्रोनाउन का बैलेंस बना रहे और वाक्य को पढ़ने में किसी भी प्रकार की परेशानी न हो

Kinds of Pronoun

There are nine types of pronouns, but mainly eight types of pronouns are known. We will have all 11 types so that nothing is missed. Which are given below.

Personal Pronoun Definition


The word addressed in a person’s place (About any one person or many people or themselves ) is called a personal pronoun.

I, me, we, us, you, he, him, she, her, it, they, them: indicate personal pronouns.

Examples of Personal Pronouns

  1. I am playing cricket on the ground.
  2. They are laughing at him.
  3. She is bothered by her husband.

पर्सनल प्रोनोन्स को हम Persons के अनुसार लिखते है , जैसे – First Person, Second Person and Third Person.

First Person यानि जो खुद के विषय में बात कर रहा है , Second Person यानि जो सुन रहा है तथा Third Person यानि किसी तीसरे व्यक्ति के विषय में बात हो रही है । इसे Singular तथा Plural के अनुसार लिखा जाता है ।

पर्सनल प्रोनाउन को तीन Case के अनुसार भी लिखा जाता है , Subjective Case, Objective Case, Possessive Case में लिखा जाता है ।

Relative Pronouns


Who, whom, whose, which, that are the Relative Pronouns Those who use to relish.

Note – “who,” “whom,” “whose” is used for persons, “which” is used for non-living things and animals, and “that” can use for persons, non-living things, and animals.

Examples of Relative Pronouns

  1. I know which book should you read.
  2. My New Friend, who meet me last year, loves Iron Man.
  3. The cat that stole the fish is back.

Interrogative Pronouns


Who, whom, whose, which, what indicates Interrogative Pronouns that makes sense to ask questions.

Examples of Interrogative Pronouns

  1. Who are you?
  2. Is She Crying?
  3. Are they going?
  4. what my shoes are brown?

Reflexive Pronouns


Myself, ourselves, yourself, yourselves, himself, herself, itself, themselves, oneself are indicates the Reflect some actions so that it is Reflexive Pronouns.

Examples of Reflexive Pronouns

  1. Don’t Worry , I will do it. 
  2. I can qualify in this exam.
  3. I can play Chess.

Emphatic or Emphasizing Pronouns


Myself, ourselves, yourself, yourselves, himself, herself, itself, themselves, oneself are indicated the Emphatic or Emphasizing Pronouns.

Examples of Emphatic Pronoun

  1. Only , I will do it.
  2. No one can play cricket like me.
  3. I am best.

 

Different Between Reflexive and Emphatic Pronoun

Reflexive Pronoun

Emphatic Pronoun

  • Subject के बाद एक्शन या Verb के बाद Self आये तो Reflexive Pronoun होते है।
  • अगर sentence से कार्य करने की Ability Show हो तो रेफ्लेस्टिव प्रोनाउन होता है।
  • यदि Sentence से रेफ्लेस्टिव प्रोनाउन को हटा दिया जाये तो sentence का अर्थ सही से नहीं आता है।

Examples

  1. 1. We will win this match.
  2. 2. I am topper of my class.
  3. 3. I cracked SSC CHSL on 1st attempt.
  • Subject के तुरंत बाद आता है।
  • अगर sentence से Proud Behaviour , Ego or Attitude का बोध होता है , तो वह एम्फैटिक प्रोनाउन होता है।

  • यदि Sentence से एम्फैटिक प्रोनाउन को हटा दिया जाये तो , sentence के अर्थ में कोई फर्क नहीं आता है|

Examples

  1. Only , I will win this match.
  2. I am topper of my class , all students are weak in studies.
  3. In my Village, Only I cracked SSC CHSL on 1st attempt.

Indefinite Pronouns


Someone, Somebody, Something, Everyone, Everybody, Everything, Anybody, Anything, Anyone, Nobody, No one, Nothing, All, One of, None of, few, much, little, both, another are the Indefinite Pronouns, which indicates uncertainty.

Example of In Indefinite Pronoun

  1. Someone stole my pen. Some people are screaming.
  2. You can choose anything from this shop.
  3. I like everything which you like.

Demonstrative Pronouns


This, That, These, Those, Such, The same are indicates Demonstrative Pronouns.

Example of Demonstrative Pronouns 

  1. Is this yours?
  2. That is my ball.
  3. These are very beautiful birds.

Distributive Pronouns


Each, Each of, Neither of, Either, Neither are indicated Distributive Pronouns.

Examples of Distributive Pronouns

  1. Neither of them speaks well English.
  2. None of the Sisters went go to Kolkata.
  3. Everyone must have Exercised in the morning every day.

Possessive Pronouns


Mine, Ours, Yours, His, Hers, Theirs. It make sense of the rights.

Examples of Possessive Pronouns

  1. You are mine.
  2. That laptop is ours.
  3. It is hers table.

Reciprocal Pronouns


Each other, One another.

Examples of Reciprocal Pronouns

  1. They love each other.
  2. Boys are fighting one another.
  3. Chris and Suhana love each other.

Exclamatory Pronouns


When ‘what’ is used in sense to surprise, is an Exclamatory Pronoun.

Examples of Exclamatory pronoun

  1. What, You are selected in Indian Cricket Team.
  2. What, you cracked SSC CGL.
  3. What, I am qualified for next level.
