The adjective is a word that tells you more about a noun or pronoun.
OR
The words which tell you about the quality of Noun or pronoun.

Examples of Adjective

A Black toy.

A tall man.

A Blue sky.

In the above example, Black, Tall, Blue, and attractive are adjectives.

किसी भी वाक्य में Noun ( नाम, वस्तु, स्थान, गुण, भाव इत्यादि ) या Pronoun ( जो शब्द संज्ञा के स्थान पर प्रयुक्त हों जैसे वह वे, मै, तुम, ये, वो, इत्यादि ) विशेषता बताने वाले शब्दों को विशेषण कहा जाता है। जैसे –

बिल्ली का रंग काला है।

ऊपर लिखित पंक्ति में “काला” बिल्ली के रंग की विशेषता प्रकट कर रहा है। अतः “काला” विशेषण है।

या

किसी वाक्य में विशेषता बताने वाले शब्दों के प्रयोग को विशेषण कहा जाता है।

उदाहरण – सलमान खान अभिनेता है।

ये कुर्सी जापानी है।

ऊपर लिखित पंक्ति में “अभिनेता” शब्द सलमान खान को विशेषता बता रहा है, उसी प्रकार “जापानी” शब्द कुर्सी की विशेषता बता रहा है। अतः हम कह सकते है किसी noun or pronoun की विशेषता बताने वाले शब्द ही विशेषण होते हैं।

Definition of Descriptive Adjective

जो विशेषण Noun या pronoun को describe करते हैं उन्हें Descriptive Adjective कहा जाता हैं। ये Noun या pronoun की विशेषता बताते हैं। –

Descriptive adjectives किसी भी वाक्य में Noun या pronoun के गुण को बताते हैं।

Horses are running.

The poor man is hungry.

जैसे ऊपर लिखे वाक्य में “The poor man is hungry” hungry गरीब आदमी की स्तिथि को बता रहा है।

‘My teacher is Hardworking’ में hard-working शब्द टीचर की विशेषता बता रहा है।

“Horses are running” में running शब्द घोड़ों की दौड़ने की विशेषता बता रहा है।

Proper Adjective Definition

Proper adjectives describe people, Names, places, and things.

Proper Adjectives का पहला अक्षर Capital होता है।

देशों के नाम के आगे an जोड़कर हम Proper Adjective बना सकते हैं, जैसे Europe में रहने वाले लोगों को हम European कहते हैं।

कहीं- कहीं अनियमित रूप से adjective बनता है, जैसे – France से French इत्यादि।

Quantitative Adjectives Definition

Quantitative Adjectives show the quantity or amount of things. Generally, they contain word’s like “many, much, Any, Enough, Sufficient, etc.

Quantitative Adjectives with Examples

He ate sufficient food.

He has enough water.

Many people are greedy. 

Quantitative adjectives वाक्य में क्वालिटी या मात्रा को बताते हैं।

जैसे – अधिकतर लोग लालची होते हैं।

Qualitative Adjective Definition

Qualitative Adjectives describe the quality of nouns and pronouns. They’re not countable like Quantitative Adjectives.

Qualitative Adjectives Examples

Sunita is a beautiful girl.

The birds chirp in the forest.

He is an attractive guy.

Qualitative adjectives noun या pronoun की गणुवत्ता को बताते हैं। इन्हे Quantitative Adjectives की तरह गिना या मापा नहीं जा सकता है।
जैसे –
सुनीता सुन्दर है। अतः सुनीता की सुंदरता को मापा नही जा सकता मगर सुंदरता शब्द सुनीता की विशेषता को बता रहा है।


Numeral Adjective Definition

Numerical adjectives describe the number of nouns or order of nouns, as a name suggesting that it’s associated with numbers.

There are thirty students in class.

I have five ball pains.

Three girls are dancing.

Numerical adjectives में संज्ञा की संख्या के बारे मे पता चलता है,
जैसे कि –
कक्षा में तीस बच्चे हैं।

Demonstrative Adjective Definition

Demonstrative adjectives are also known as determiners, as they help determine the noun’s position.

A demonstrative adjective always comes before the noun phrase.

Demonstrative Adjectives संज्ञा की स्थान के बारे में जानकारी देता है।

Distributive adjectives are those adjectives that are used to refer to a person or thing separately.
We used specific words to refer to Distributive Adjectives: every, neither, either, any,b Each, one, both, etc.

जब Every, Neither, Either, Any, Each, One, Both, के बाद कोई भी noun प्रयोग में लाया जाता है तो इसे Distributive Adjective कहा जाता है।

Her house is not beautiful.

जो Adjectives किसी चीज़ पर अधिकार या सबधं को ज्ञात कराए उसे Possessive Adjectives कहते हैं।
